I don't really have a church family in KY so I guess I'll do it on my church family "back home" in TX
1.) Everyone knows each other. This is a pretty big feat for a larger church.
2.) We do these really silly old-school productions every year at Easter and Christmas. It used to be a drag being forced to participate as a child, but it's pretty neat to look back on and experience each year.
3.) I love that my church family is committed to maintaining historical property (i.e. the church itself). Sure they go through renovations every once in a while and new styled buildings get put up, but at no point has anyone suggested to just move the sanctuary to a new site/building and I think that's pretty special in this day and age.
4.) I really dig that in all of this updating and even building and making sets for the yearly productions that the vast majority of it gets done by members of the church themselves.
5.) I like that when I visit "home" people know me by name and ask how I'm doing. Sometimes in larger congregations that gets tough to do, but the individualized attention each person gets is spectacular.
I really hope we can find something like this in our new home in WA!
